Why nonporous acrylic outperforms tile in the long run
Tile and grout is a beautiful installation on day one. The problem is the grout. Grout is porous — it absorbs moisture, and in a bathroom that gets used daily, that moisture never fully dries. Over time, grout becomes the incubator for mold and mildew that no surface spray can fully eliminate. Regrouting extends the life of a tile installation, but it doesn’t solve the underlying problem.

How Much Does a New Tub or Shower Cost?
Bath remodeling cost depends on what you’re having done and how you’re configuring it. Here is how the investment breaks down.
Type of project. A tub-to-shower conversion is typically the most involved job — removing a tub, building a new base, and fitting a full shower enclosure. A shower replacement or tub replacement in an existing space is generally more straightforward.
Enclosure size and configuration. Small corner showers start at a lower investment than oversized enclosures or walk-in designs with bench seats and multiple fixtures.
Hardware and accessories. Your choice of Delta hardware finish and any upgrade accessories (grab bars, bench seats, built-in shelving, frameless glass doors) are added to the base enclosure cost.
Wall system selection. Standard wall systems vs. premium tile-look patterns affect the per-project cost.

What Happens During Your HANSONS Bath Installation
Most bathtub and shower installations take as little as one day. Here’s exactly what to expect.
Step 1 — Your free in-home consultation
Our installer comes to your home, inspects your current tub or shower space, takes precise measurements, and walks you through all design options in person — wall systems, hardware finishes, accessories, and any safety features. You receive a complete estimate before we leave.
Step 2 — Confirmation and day-of communication
You’ll receive a confirmation call or text the day before installation. The morning of your appointment, your Project Coordinator will contact you to walk through what to expect and answer any questions.
Before installation day, here’s what to prepare:
- Remove all items from the shower or tub area.
- Clear all surfaces in the bathroom — the area gets dusty during installation.
- Clear a path to the bathroom at least 3-4 feet wide to bring in new parts.
- Know where the water shutoff access panel is located — our crew will need to turn off water to the tub during installation.
- If you have a basement, ensure our crew can access the drain from below.
- Clear a 10×10-foot area in your garage, driveway, or yard — our crew uses this as a staging workspace to prepare materials.
- Ensure access to a power outlet, or leave a porch light on for adapter use.
The toilet and sink in the bathroom being remodeled remain functional during installation, but access will be limited.
Step 3 — Installation
Our factory-trained installer removes your existing tub or shower enclosure, builds the new base if converting tub to shower, fits watertight acrylic walls, installs hardware, and ensures everything is sealed and functional before finishing. Most tub-to-shower conversions and tub or shower replacements are completed in one to two days.
Step 4 — Final walkthrough
Before we leave, your installer walks you through the completed installation — how to clean and maintain your new surfaces, how to use all hardware features, and what your No Leak Guarantee covers.
