Over 35 years and more than 300,000 customers across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota, we’ve done enough bathroom installations to know exactly what fails and why.
In the Midwest, bathrooms work hard. Humidity from harsh winters where homes are sealed tight for months. Temperature swings that create condensation cycles on surfaces that weren’t designed to handle them. Grout lines that seem fine for the first few years and then become the permanent home of black mold that no cleaner fully addresses. We’ve seen it in every state we serve.
Tile and grout is a beautiful installation on day one. The problem is the grout. Grout is porous — it absorbs moisture, and in a bathroom that gets used daily, that moisture never fully dries. Over time, grout becomes the incubator for mold and mildew that no surface spray can fully eliminate. Regrouting extends the life of a tile installation, but it doesn’t solve the underlying problem.
Our bath enclosures are made from nonporous acrylic. There is no grout. There are no joints where moisture can penetrate and establish itself. Wipe it down and it’s clean — not surface-clean, actually clean. In climates where homes are closed up for five months of winter and bathrooms run in high-humidity cycles daily, that difference in daily maintenance is significant.
We offer exclusive Delta hardware across all our bath installations — faucets, showerheads, and accessories in multiple finishes. Delta is one of the most trusted plumbing hardware brands in the country, known for reliable pressure balancing and consistent water temperature control. If you’ve ever had a shower that scalds you when someone else runs water in the house, that’s a pressure balancing problem. Delta’s water-sense certified fixtures address it directly. The finish options — brushed nickel, chrome, matte black — are consistent across the full hardware package so your bathroom looks cohesive rather than assembled from whatever was available.
A significant portion of our bath remodel customers are thinking about the next 20 years, not just the next two. Walk-in showers, curbless entries, grab bars, and fold-down bench seats are no longer the clinical-looking additions they once were — they’re standard design options that add both safety and resale value. Tub-to-shower conversions are one of the most requested modifications for homeowners who want to remain in their homes as they age. We offer all of these options across our full service area, and we install them with the same care and Hansons-backed guarantee as any other bath project.
A variety of wall designs that are low maintenance, durable and mold and mildew resistant.
Exclusive Delta® hardware in multiple finishes and upgrades that are all easy to clean and minimize water usage.
Add peace of mind for the future with options like grab bars and bench seats.
Bath remodeling cost depends on what you’re having done and how you’re configuring it. Here is how the investment breaks down.
Type of project. A tub-to-shower conversion is typically the most involved job — removing a tub, building a new base, and fitting a full shower enclosure. A shower replacement or tub replacement in an existing space is generally more straightforward.
Enclosure size and configuration. Small corner showers start at a lower investment than oversized enclosures or walk-in designs with bench seats and multiple fixtures.
Hardware and accessories. Your choice of Delta hardware finish and any upgrade accessories (grab bars, bench seats, built-in shelving, frameless glass doors) are added to the base enclosure cost.
Wall system selection. Standard wall systems vs. premium tile-look patterns affect the per-project cost.
For over 35 years, homeowners across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota have trusted HANSONS to protect and improve their homes. We’ve served more than 300,000 customers — and earned an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and a 5-star reputation to show for it. When you choose HANSONS for your bath remodel, you’re not choosing a company that showed up last year with a catalog of fixtures. You’re choosing three and a half decades of installations done right, backed by a No Leak Guarantee that covers your new tub or shower for as long as you own your home.
Most bathtub and shower installations take as little as one day. Here’s exactly what to expect.
Our installer comes to your home, inspects your current tub or shower space, takes precise measurements, and walks you through all design options in person — wall systems, hardware finishes, accessories, and any safety features. You receive a complete estimate before we leave.
You’ll receive a confirmation call or text the day before installation. The morning of your appointment, your Project Coordinator will contact you to walk through what to expect and answer any questions.
Before installation day, here’s what to prepare:
The toilet and sink in the bathroom being remodeled remain functional during installation, but access will be limited.
Our factory-trained installer removes your existing tub or shower enclosure, builds the new base if converting tub to shower, fits watertight acrylic walls, installs hardware, and ensures everything is sealed and functional before finishing. Most tub-to-shower conversions and tub or shower replacements are completed in one to two days.
Before we leave, your installer walks you through the completed installation — how to clean and maintain your new surfaces, how to use all hardware features, and what your No Leak Guarantee covers.
After you select your design, our installer removes your existing tub, prepares the space, builds a new shower base custom-fit to your opening, fits watertight acrylic walls, installs your chosen hardware, and seals everything before leaving. Most conversions are complete in one to two days.
Tub-to-shower conversions typically increase home value as long as at least one bathtub remains in the home for buyers who prefer it. If this is your home’s only bathtub, discuss that trade-off with your installer before proceeding. If your home has a second bath with a tub, a shower conversion in the primary bath is generally considered a positive upgrade.
Yes. We offer grab bars, fold-down bench seats, and curbless entry designs as standard options. These can be incorporated into any tub-to-shower conversion or shower replacement. Curbless showers require no step over the threshold — important for both aging-in-place safety and wheelchair accessibility.
We offer exclusive Delta hardware in multiple finishes including brushed nickel, chrome, and matte black. All fixtures are Delta-certified and Water Sense rated. Your installer will show you all available options at your free consultation.
Our bath enclosures carry a Lifetime No Leak Guarantee against manufacturer’s defects for as long as you own your home. If our new bathtub or shower leaks due to a manufacturer defect, we fix it. Full details at hansons.com/warranties.
Tile looks beautiful, but grout is porous — it absorbs moisture daily and becomes a long-term home for mold and mildew that no cleaner fully removes. Our acrylic enclosures are nonporous: no grout, no joints for moisture to penetrate, easy to clean and keep clean. In the Midwest where homes are sealed up for months at a time and bathrooms run in high-humidity cycles, the maintenance difference over ten years is significant.
We install bathtubs, showers, and tub-to-shower conversions in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.
Yes, we can turn your bathtub into a walk-in shower often in a day or less. Whether you’re looking for safety, style or both, we can give you the custom design of your dreams for a fraction of the price of a remodel.
Absolutely. We specialize in fully customized showers, designed and manufactured individually for your house. With our factory-trained experts, you’ll never get stuck with a cookie-cutter design.
Of course. We make bathtub transformations easy and affordable. All tubs are made to order, so you’ll get the right look and fit for the right price.
After you select your shower design, our trained installer will remove your existing tub, build a new shower base, then fit watertight walls and other shower features to the space.
Actually, removing a tub and installing a shower typically increases the value of a home. Keep in mind, though, that buyers do want one bathtub in a home, so this may not be the case if you’re removing your home’s only bathtub.
We can perform most tub-to-shower conversions in 1 to 2 days.
A curbless shower is one that requires no step over or barrier for entry and exit. You can walk in and out on the same level as the bathroom floor.
Whether you’re in Michigan planning a tub-to-shower conversion, in Iowa looking for a safety-focused curbless design, or anywhere across our service area ready to replace an outdated bathroom — your local HANSONS team is ready.
All HANSONS remodelers are carefully trained to provide the perfect installation for any tub or shower. No matter the complexity, our process generally takes as little as a day.
